Project Details

Jungle Jump is an educational math game suited for teachers to use with their first and second grade students in the classroom. Our client preferred that this game be compatible with tablets and also playable on a computer. This project was a part of the Software Engineering course at Westminster College. During this course, the professor (client) often provided feedback after each release and changed elements of our app completely. This taught our team how to adapt quickly to fast paced changes.

Primary Roles

On this team I made most of the svgs icons,, was responsible for the fruit basket counter logic and design, help on the math pop up, performed contrast checks and redesigned fonts and backgrounds accordingly, and wrote project documentation.

Teacher View

In this game, teachers can log in to the teacher portal to view and make classes. They can see each level and the student progress for each time the level was played. Teachers can create a level with a custom number of addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division questions set at a max value.

Student View

Students can sign in using their log in information and their class code set up by their teacher. When they log in, they will see the class levels. When playing a level, students can select a character and jump up branches answering math questions to collect as much fruit as possible. Because we wanted the game to be supportive and not discouraging, students are not penalized when they do not answer a question wrong, they simply get a higher amount of fruit when they are right. After reaching the top, they will see their score and have the opportunity to replay the level.
